Talk about a sweet treat, and just in time for Valentine’s day, multi award winning singer/songwriter, blue-eyed soul brother, Robin Thicke released his eighth studio album titled “On Earth and, In Heaven.” The album is a personal self-reflective examination of lose and love that the singer experienced over the past five years; passing of his father Alan Thicke and mentor Andre Harrell, and a devastating house fire. He sings love of his wife, family and birth of his children.
“On Earth and, In Heaven” is a quintessential mix of great music. Thicke delivers signature falsetto and mid range tenors, those that envelop one in the rapture of love and good vibes. With the first track “Lucky Star” which features beautiful piano chords accompanied with relaxing guitar strums, percussive finger snaps, and infused with twinge of Bosa Nova syncopation that continues on track three “Lola Mia” to have us grooving to the beat. Track seven breaths life into mind body and soul, with classic mellow doo-wop song “Beautiful.” Thicke delivers an outstanding concert with the eleven tracks that offer variations in vocal style, range and tempos to satisfy all our musical desires. Thicke is giving us ear-gasims of splendor.
In a recent press release, Thicke said “When I looked over my album notes, the phrase that kept coming to mind was ‘On Earth, and in Heaven’ and I realized that’s what I’m singing about: the people who aren’t here and the people who are here that I love and made me who I am. This music is the sunshine coming out after the rain.” We couldn’t agree more!
