The Last Dinner Party Unleash Feverish New Single “Big Dog”

Fancy young British rockers The Last Dinner Party released their sophomore album From The Pyre last year, and they have been busy ever since. Earlier this year, they released their new song “Let’s Do It Again!” on the benefit compilation HELP(2). Later this year, they will open shows for Olivia Rodrigo, another artist who was featured on that HELP(2) compilation. Next week, the band is set to perform at Salt Lake City’s Kilby Block Party festival.

“Big Dog,” the band’s latest single, is not actually a new composition; it is a track that has been a fixture of their live performances since 2023. The song is a feverish, riff-heavy rocker that showcases the group’s ability to balance brash, theatrical energy with sharp melodic sensibilities. They effortlessly shift from Kate Bush-esque flourishes to aggressive, headbanging riffs, proving why they have become one of the most compelling acts in modern rock.

Elliott Arndt directed the music video for “Big Dog,” which leans heavily into the band’s high-energy live footage. Along with the single, the band has shared a studio recording of “Come All You Beasts,” the poem that they recite before playing the song live. It is not a spoken-word track in the traditional sense, but rather an atmospheric introduction to the song, complete with riffs and dramatic flair.

“Big Dog” is out now on Island.
