Young Meepa Drops “RIP Friends” Ahead of New EP

Young Meepa has released “RIP Friends,” the first single from his upcoming EP MXTPE #3: dystopia… Pt. 1, setting the tone for the next installment of his ongoing mixtape series. The track arrives ahead of the full nine-song project, due February 27, 2026, and functions as a stark introduction to a release centered on grief, institutional distrust, and emotional survival.

The song captures a state of emotional overload shaped by guilt, grief, and long-term survival. It begins from a place of frustration and exhaustion, where Young Meepa feels like his very existence causes harm or inconvenience. There’s a deep sense of self-blame running through the verses, paired with regret over past actions and the belief that attempts to push back or resist only made things worse. This mindset reflects someone who feels worn down by both internal struggle and external pressure.

As the song continues, that self-blame is mixed with awareness of how these feelings affect others. There’s an acknowledgment that the emotions being expressed are difficult for loved ones to hear, yet the connection to those people still matters.

The later section of the song shifts toward loss and isolation. Young Meepa reflects on how he feels defined and limited by labels, past behavior, or how others see him, no matter what he does to change. This sense of being trapped feeds into the grief at the center of the song.

Overall, the track functions as an honest snapshot of a mind shaped by trauma, addiction, and loss. There is no attempt to clean up the emotions or offer comfort. Instead, the song documents what it feels like to live with unresolved grief, survivor’s guilt, and a constant questioning of self-worth, allowing those feelings to exist without explanation or closure.

“RIP Friends” introduces MXTPE #3: dystopia… Pt. 1, the next chapter following MXTPE #1: birth and MXTPE #2: misanthropy.  The EP includes tracks such as “When I Die,” “Please Don’t Become a Cop,” and “Cops Need Not Apply (Get a Real Job).”

A second single, “Cops Need Not Apply (Get a Real Job),” is scheduled for release on February 13, further outlining the EP’s thematic focus ahead of the full drop.
