Usher has revealed that his 15-year-old son recently stole his phone to send a DM to PinkPantheress – who then invited the pair to one of her shows.
Writing on Instagram Stories today (April 25), the ‘Coming Home’ singer said: “So… a week or so ago my son, Naviyd, stole my phone so he could dm his favorite artist @pinkpantheress.”
Usher then shared a screenshot of Naviyd’s DM to the ‘Heaven Knows’ artist, which read: “Hello this is Usher’s son Naviyd I’m you[r] true biggest fan please follow me.” The teen also shared the handle to his Instagram profile.
“hahahahahaa,” PinkPantheress replied, adding: “this is wild!”
Picking up the story, Usher wrote: “Now I just so happened to check my DMs earlier this past week and saw a message exchange from someone with a Powerpuff girl as their profile pic. so I’m like [what] the hell is this[?]
“I open it and I’m like oh this boy done DMd this girl from my damn phone…”
The R&B star then posted Naviyd’s response to PinkPantheress. He said: “OMG I DIDNT THING U WERE GONN ASNWER [sic]. thank you for liking my posttt.” Usher later sent the singer an apology, writing: “I’m so sorry … my son is a super fan.”

PinkPantheress said the apology wasn’t necessary and that she was “happy to have this interaction”. She went on to invite Usher and his son to her next live show.
“But because he did the MOST just to connect with her on my account… I had to act like he wasn’t allowed to go…,” Usher told his followers. “BUT… because my son is such a fan of her artistry… I decided to let him go…”
After taking PinkPanteress up on her offer, Usher sent a DM reading: “My son is at you[r] show tonight. I had to send him considering his level of dedication and creativity … to figure out getting your attention through stealing my phone… that’s commitment. Hopefully you guys get to link.”
Usher concluded the Instagram Stories thread by sharing his “parental takeaway” from his son’s actions.
“This was a great moment for Naviyd… this was him movin on something he was passionate about,” he began.
“Yes… he violated my trust in the process and for that I will never trust him around my phone, but I should have known better. Nonetheless, I appreciate the hustle and him making [it] happen.”
Usher added: “From a text, to a concert, to the artist. He masterminded this whole thing and made it happen. #HustleHard.”
Naviyd, meanwhile, has posted a series of images and videos from meeting PinkPantheress at her gig. In one photo, Usher is seen on a video call to the singer (see above). His son’s Instagram bio reads: “pinkpantheress fan 4 lifee.”
PinkPantheress is currently out on the North American leg of her ‘Capable Of Love Tour’. This summer, she’ll return to the UK to headline Field Day 2024 in Victoria Park, east London.
Last month, Usher added a 10th and final London date to his 2025 UK and European world tour. It followed his huge Super Bowl Halftime Show performance in Las Vegas, Nevada earlier this year.
