On this edition of GroovyTracks’s The Reach, Dane Reid of Dane Reid Media delves into his journey as a voiceover artist. It’s a career about which he says many people are often “misinformed or under-informed.” Whether it’s a radio promo, a commercial, or a political campaign, you have heard his distinct baritone. Keen attention to his craft, belief in his talent and outstanding work ethic have led him to an almost 20-year career.
The first-generation, Jamaican-American and proud New York native resides in Atlanta, yet he can be heard as far away as Nigeria. “There’s no point of the day that someone in the world isn’t listening to my work. There’s not a minute or a second in a day that my voice is not being heard,” he shares with unwavering confidence.
His stellar portfolio includes work with small businesses and big-time corporations such as Pepsi, Radio One and Walmart. He is also the voice of the top hip-hop and R&B radio stations nationwide. He has produced close to 10k projects which include radio commercials for local businesses, nightclubs and concerts for global superstars such as Beyonce, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, Rick Ross and others. For Reid, partying with Usher or seeing Ludacris around the neighborhood are professional perks. Being a voiceover artist takes more than having a great voice, thus he also provides training to aspiring Voice Over artists.
