Twitch streamer Kai Cenat has broken the record for most new subscribers during a mammoth event that featured everyone from Snoop Dogg to Kim Kardashian.

Cenat is currently the fifth most popular streamer on Twitch with over 13million followers, and is currently hosting a mammoth, month-long stream in a bid to increase his paid subscribers.

While following streamers on Twitch is free, subscribing gives fans an ad-free viewing experience as well as a range of exclusive emojis and a special subscriber badge. KaiCenat is charging fans £4.99 to sub to his channel, with 20 per cent of the revenue raised funding a school in Nigeria.

His Mafiathon 2 event was designed to help him reclaim the record for most paid subscribers after it was broken by Ironmouse last month, who racked up 326,252 new subscribers during her own month-long subathon.

Cenat started his stream on November 1 and earlier this week, broke the 350,000 subscribers mark with two-weeks still to go. He hasn’t been doing it alone though. During the stream Cenat hung out with Snoop Dogg, who gifted the streamer a “super-sized” blunt and has been joined by the likes of Denzel Curry, Lil Uzi Vert and Quavo, who shared a motivational speech with viewers.

Serena Williams also joined the stream, GloRilla turned up to do some cooking (and reveal she loves sugar on pasta) and the whole thing was advertised by a cinematic trailer featuring Kim Kardashian as Cenat’s therapist. “Mafiathon? I stream for 30 days straight, 24-hours every single day. They watch me eat, sleep, shower on camera,” said Cenat with Kardashian replying “that doesn’t sound healthy’.

Taking to social media after breaking the record, Cenat wrote: “Lost number one a month and some change ago. Completely planned another one in less than two months and came back and we got the world record again. I love all my supporters from the bottom of my heart. Job still not finished.”

Mafiathon 2 will run until November 30, with recently de-throned Ironmouse suggesting Cenat could break a million subs by the end of the event (via PC Gamer).
