Former tennis Grand Slam champion Serena Williams goes viral for joining a mosh pit at Green Day’s LA show.

At Green Day‘s tour stop at SoFi Stadium on Saturday (September 14), Williams, dressed in all black, was spotted joining other rock fans in the pit.

Footage posted on X shows Williams running around in a circle pit with a big smile on her face and waving her arms in the air. Watch below:

This isn’t the first time Williams has shown herself to be a big Green Day fan. In 2023 she posted a video of her doing the ‘Green Day Challenge’ on TikTok, where she had to name as many of the songs as possible as they were being played.

Green Day’s ‘Saviors’ tour, where the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers perform their iconic tracks, with support from the Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid, and the Linda Lindas, runs until their September 28 show in San Diego.

After the show Billie Joe Armstrong shared a post on Instagram, writing: “Triumphant show Los Angeles!!! We gave it all! And so did you. Eternally grateful.” His post had hundreds of comments, including one from Williams that says “Love you Billie!!!!!!”

Last week Green Day’s ‘American Idiot’ hit one billion streams on Spotify. The song was the title track of the band’s Grammy-winning seventh album, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. It is Green Day’s second song to join Spotify’s Billions club, after ‘Basket Case’.

Green Day have been performing ‘American Idiot’ in its entirety on their 2024 ‘Saviors’ world tour.

In other news, Green Day side project Pinhead Gunpowder have returned with their first new music for 16 years. They released ‘Unt’, the lead single from their forthcoming album of the same name. The album is set to drop on October 18.

The band have also announced their first European festival shows of next summer, and they’re just a few days before Glastonbury.
