A man has been arrested for attempting to break into Drake’s mansion, just one day after a shooting took place outside the residence.
According to numerous reports, an intruder was arrested and detained in Toronto yesterday (May 8) for allegedly attempting to gain access to Drake’s home in the area.
News of the attempted break-in comes just hours after police and paramedics were called to the site after a man was hospitalised and left with “serious injuries” after being shot outside the residence.
Police in the area shared a statement in light of the recent turn of events with local outlet CityNews.
“Officers were called after a person attempted to gain access to the property,” the spokesperson said. “Officers were called after a person attempted to gain access to the property [and] the person was apprehended under the Mental Health Act.”
At time of writing, no further details on the suspect have been shared publicly.

As aforementioned, the incident comes just after a man was shot outside the home earlier this week. As per an update by Toronto Police on X, the incident took place around 2:10am ET, near the corner of Bayview and Lawrence Avenues. Police who went to the scene found a man with serious injuries who was then taken to the Sunnybrook Hospital.
The injuries are not said to be life-threatening, according to comments shared to reporters by paramedics, and the police have also confirmed that Drake was not the victim.
Since then, it has been widely reported that the person who was injured was Drake’s bodyguard, who was shot in the chest – although these reports have not been officially confirmed.
Local police have confirmed to CBC that the ongoing investigation is taking place, and there have been no descriptions provided for either the suspect or the vehicle they fled in.
In a press conference outside the home, inspector Paul Krawczyk of the Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force said the victim seemed to be working as a security guard and “was standing outside the gates in front of the residence when the shooting occurred”. He also added that the victim remains in hospital and there is no known motive at the time (via The Hollywood Reporter).
The Toronto mansion has been a talking point in recent days, as fans recently renamed the residence on Google Maps in a prank related to the ongoing feud the Canadian rapper has with Kendrick Lamar.
The two have had beef over recent years, which has come to a head over the past two weeks. Each has been sharing a series of songs with increasingly personal verbal attacks over the other’s musical ability and personal dramas. Over the past weekend alone, the two of them dropped five songs in just three days.
There has not been any evidence to indicate that there is any correlation between the ongoing musical battle, the shooting or the attempted break-in. This is a developing story.
In other Drake news, a US anchorman made headlines of his own yesterday (May 8) when he accidentally called Drake a “raper” instead of a “rapper” while on live television, reporting on the shooting.
“Kendrick and Drake’s beef is between them and completely separate from the business side of things,” TMZ reported [via HotNewHipHop]. “And UMG just doesn’t think it’s their place to step in either way.”
