Liars Return With Hypnotic New Single “Beat Creep Some Eyes”

It is a productive time for the project known as Liars. While the musical landscape often feels crowded, the singular vision of frontman Angus Andrew remains a standout force. As he prepares for the release of his upcoming album, A Ban On Plastic Bag Bans—a project deeply influenced by his time spent in Kalamazoo, Michigan—Andrew has unveiled a compelling new single titled “Beat Creep Some Eyes.”

“Beat Creep Some Eyes” is a hypnotic track driven by sustained synth drones and rolling-freakout drums. Angus Andrew’s voice, a drawn-out deadpan chant, sounds otherworldly. Clemens Habicht put together the evocative video using black-and-white photos that Andrew took with a 3D camera around Kalamazoo. Both song and video capture a feeling of creeping decay. Here’s what Andrew says about it:

Sometimes, I think the strangest thing isn’t that the world is absurd, but how quickly we get used to it. You can find yourself living inside something completely ridiculous, and after a while it just becomes Tuesday. Then you start to wonder if you’re seeing things clearly at all. You know what you’re looking at, but you’re no longer sure you’re seeing it correctly. I think the music lives somewhere in that space.
