Iggy Azalea has been pretty quiet lately, and now we know one tiny reason why. In an Instagram Story, the rapper revealed on Wednesday (June 10) that she is now a mother.

“I have a son,” she wrote in a message to fans. “I kept waiting for the right time to say something but if feels like the more time passes the more I realize I’m always going to feel anxious to share news that giant with the world.”

At press time the Australian-born “Lola” rapper (born Amethyst Amelia Kelly), 30, had not shared the name of the baby’s father or any additional information about when the baby was born. “I want to keep his life private but wanted to make it clear he is not a secret & I love him beyond words,” she wrote of why she’s been quiet about the happy news despite rumors swirling for months that she was a new mom.

A spokesperson for Azalea has not yet responded to a request for comment.

In May, Azalea took to social media to show off her curves in the wake of rumors she recently gave birth to her first child with fellow rapper Playboi Carti. “For the record, I didn’t actually go anywhere. Just a lil harmless quarantine dress up situation,” she captioned the post, in which she’s seen strutting across a darkened driveway in a curve-hugging lilac velvet minidress. In a separate post, she showed off her glam makeup from the look with a simple purple heart emoji.

Azalea returned from a self-imposed social media break earlier in March by sharing her first post since Dec. 31, 2019.
