Adele has told fans she’ll be taking an extended break from performing once she wraps up the remaining shows on her Las Vegas residency.
Last night marked the final performance in her Munich residency, where she played for 10 nights across August in the purpose-built 80,000-capacity Messe München arena in Germany. The shows were her first in mainland Europe since 2016.
Earlier this year, the singer revealed she has no intention of making new music anytime soon, and now she’s told fans that she also won’t be back on stage for a while.
During her final show in Munich last night, Adele reflected on the past few years of live shows. “I’m not the most comfortable performer, I know that, but I am very fucking good at it. And I have really enjoyed performing for nearly three years now, which is the longest I’ve ever done and probably the longest I’ll ever do,” she said.
The ‘Hello’ singer currently has 10 shows remaining at her Vegas Residency after they were postponed earlier in the year due to illness. “After that, I will not see you for an incredibly long time,” told the crowd.
“I will hold you dear in my heart for that whole length of my break, and I will fantasise about these shows and any shows that I’ve done over the last three years. It has been amazing, I just need a rest
“I have spent the last seven years building a new life for myself, and I want to live it now.”

She went on to thank the fans, saying: “I will remember these shows for eternity, they have been spectacular.”

During the residency, Adele took a moment to praise Chappell Roan, calling the rising singer “absolutely amazing”. “She is spectacular, and it turns out, she’s not just got one song,” she said. “She’s got, like, seven fucking brilliant songs.”
She also confirmed her engagement to Rich Paul live on stage and performed her 2008 single ‘Chasing Pavements’ for the first time in seven years. At another gig, she paused the set to stream the semi-final and final of the women’s 100m Olympic races.
