wisemary won't bow down

Emerging from St. Louis’s thriving music scene, WISEMARY has become synonymous with enthralling classic rock adaptations. They’re now dialing up the intensity with the unveiling of their new single, “Won’t Bow Down.” This song embodies passionate persistence, having been intricately woven during the evolution of their forthcoming self-titled album and meticulously refined by the esteemed Carl Nappa.

WISEMARY‘s frontman, Zach Rehagen, collaborates with bassist Ryan Litteken, lead guitarist Carson Kilo, drummer Andrew Martin, and rhythm guitarist Evan Gay to create a harmonious yet electrifying dynamic. This release draws inspiration from a mysterious girl whose mysterious charm ensnared both Rehagen and Kilo, leaving them entranced yet perplexed, suspended in a haunting ambivalence.

“Won’t Bow Down” is a symphony of raw emotion, echoing the torment and fascination elicited by the girl’s mystifying charm. The chorus, rich with allusions to a chess game, underscores a narrative of calculated emotional entanglement, expressing the duo’s sentiments of being unwitting pawns in a sinister dance of manipulation.

In this powerful single, lyrical expressions like “I sold my shadow/So I could leave a mark” and “I won’t bow down” echo a fierce declaration of autonomy. WISEMARY’s story asserts a defiance against subjugation and a determination to rise amidst overwhelming pressure and adversity.

The band’s distinct sound is an alchemy of diverse influences, inspired by the iconic signatures of musical giants like Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, Fleetwood Mac, and Foo Fighters. WISEMARY’s electrifying live performances, marked by a memorable showcase at Arrowhead and St. Louis’s Grub and Groove festival are testament to their evolving artistry.

Following the release of “Won’t Bow Down,” fans are eagerly anticipating WISEMARY’s debut album and a riveting performance at The Pageant in St. Louis this November, where they will feature in a collaborative show with The Urge.
