Following the announcement of their upcoming album Autosmile and the release of its compelling title track earlier this June, the electronic folk outfit @ is back with their latest offering. The band has officially unveiled their idiosyncratic second single, “Punish My Mind,” providing fans with a deeper look into the sonic landscape of their forthcoming project.
Describing the creative process behind the track, the duo explains, “’Punish My Mind’ is a chill song about self-torture that’s maybe the oldest recording on the album. It has a fat wind arrangement and a lot of vocal harmonies. We hope you like it.”
The track is notable for its unique production choices, including the inclusion of feral monkey shrieks woven into a chaotic, sprawling soundscape. The release is accompanied by a music video directed by the band’s own Stone Flipczak, which can be viewed below.
Autosmile is scheduled for release on October 16 via 4AD.
