Victoryland, the compelling partnership between singer-songwriter Julian McCamman and producer Dan Howard, has officially joined the roster at Dead Oceans. The indie music powerhouse, known for championing some of the most vital voices in the scene, has tapped the duo for a significant expansion of their recent work. This signing arrives as the band continues to build momentum following the success of their debut album, My Heart Is A Room With No Cameras In It, which garnered critical acclaim earlier this year.
To celebrate the new partnership, Dead Oceans will release a deluxe edition of My Heart Is A Room With No Cameras In It on December 11. The expanded project features the newly released bonus track, “The Ugliest Girl On The Beach.” The song serves as a masterclass in post-Cure alternative rock, characterized by its brisk tempo, sharp melodic sensibilities, and a lingering sense of melancholia that has become a hallmark of the band’s sound.
Reflecting on the inspiration behind the track, Julian McCamman shared, “Sinking into the hot sand and watching the two blue lovers trying to kiss, forever caught in their parallel hell, I refused the barrier between me and nature. I’m still there, still trying for the answer: who am I when I’m alone?”
The deluxe version of My Heart Is A Room With No Cameras In It is set for release on December 11. Fans can pre-order the collection now as the band prepares to close out a breakout year.
