Spoiler alert: he didn't wear a mask.
President Trump left the White House after more than a month of lockdown to travel to a Honeywell 3M factory manufacturing N-95 protective masks in Arizona on Tuesday (May 5).
And, just like VP Mike Pence’s visit to the Mayo Clinic last week, despite rules mandating that everyone in the plant wear a mask, Trump opted for goggles instead of a protective device over his nose and mouth amid the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.
But what really caught people’s attention was that, as reported by the Washington Post, among the playlist of songs from the president’s beloved public rallies was a new selection: Guns N’ Roses‘ cover of “Live and Let Die.”
On the same day that Trump suggested he was going to disband the White House coronavirus task force, the choice of the James Bond theme song from Paul McCartney’s Wings with the refrain, “You used to say live and let die/ You know you did,” was especially jarring.
At press time it did not appear that vocally anti-Trump GNR singer Axl Rose nor McCartney had reacted to the footage.
The reaction to Trump’s choice of soundtrack was, not surprisingly, decidedly partisan and not great.
