Sour Widows are back, but there are some changes this time around. The Bay Area trio is now a duo — made up of Maia Sinaiko and Susanna Thomson — and they’ve joined the roster at Julia’s War. Today, they are officially announcing their new album Sigil, which serves as the follow-up to their 2024 release Revival Of A Friend. The sprawling lead single, “Blood In The Grass,” is out now and is dedicated to Babehoven‘s Maya Bon.
“‘Blood In The Grass’ is about fate, creating family, and finding refuge in one another in times of spiritual and physical pain,” Thomson explains. “It’s a gift to share pain with someone you love while you are alive because you can’t do that after you die. This song is set in the natural world because all living things are the same when they are born. In nature, the state of vulnerability is a fact that is fundamental to life and can’t be obscured.”
Sigil was produced by Melina Duterte, also known as Jay Som. The release of “Blood In The Grass” is accompanied by a self-directed music video, which you can watch below.
