The dreamy Minneapolis rockers she’s green have been making waves, recently appearing at the New York edition of the shoegaze festival Slide Away. As they prepare for the release of their upcoming EP, Swallowtail, the band has shared their latest single, “Close Your Eyes.”
Following the release of early tracks “Mettle” and “Paper Thin,” this new seven-minute offering leans into a gauzy, expansive soundscape. The track is defined by its chiming, sighing textures that invite the listener to get completely lost in the atmosphere. Bandleader Zofia Smith describes the inspiration behind the song:
“Close Your Eyes” is about a mysterious person who kept recurring in my dreams. In those dreams, we shared a life together by the ocean. Waking up and realizing they weren’t real left a lasting impression on me, leaving me wondering about our connection to our dreams, how my mind could have created this person, or if I knew them in a past life.
It is a fitting explanation for a track that feels as ethereal and haunting as the experience it describes. Listen to the song below.
