Creed frontman Scott Stapp is making the best of shelter-in-place orders: He’s spending some seriously cute quality time with his 2-year-old son, Anthony.
In a video Stapp is sharing exclusively with Billboard, father and son are enjoying some action-packed adventures from Spider-Man and friends on the small screen, with Dad explaining what’s happening.
The adorable clip shows Anthony reacting to the action as Stapp, 46, watches his little boy with a smile. One of the cutest bits shows the toddler exclaiming, “Oh gosh!” and the musician clamps his hands over his own mouth in mock surprise. The two then exclaim, “Get him, Spider-Man!” and even show off some quick punches to teach the Marvel superhero how it’s done.
“We are big superhero fans in our family. Spider-Man, Superman, Iron Man … Anthony joined the club after seeing his big brother, Daniel, and I watch superhero movies together,” Stapp — who is also dad to 9-year-old Daniel and 13-year-old Milan — tells Billboard. “So we bought him some action figures, and since then, we’re either playing, watching, or talking about superheroes. His imagination blows me away.”
Stapp, whose wife Jaclyn filmed the video of her husband and young son, also shared a little bit more about how his baby boy is developing as the family is sheltering together at their home in Franklin, Tenn., during the global coronavirus pandemic.
“With his brother and sister at home around the clock right now, it’s amazing how talkative the baby has become. He’s absorbing so much, and we’re very proud of the older kids who’ve been teaching, engaging, and encouraging him,” the musician notes. “During the weekdays, we’re doing a virtual toddler program, so Anthony does ‘school’ with Mom or Dad, just like the big kids.”
As for how the family is staying entertained with all the additional family time, Stapp shares that they play and explore out in the backyard, which includes a swing set and trampoline, as well as both a basketball and tennis court. The family also enjoys riding their bikes and roller skating.
But little Anthony does prefer one activity over the others. “Of course his favorite is stomping in the creek and making mud pies,” reveals Stapp. “Go figure.”
