Rush Deliver Surprise-Filled Second Show – See Setlist + Video

Rush returned to the Forum in Los Angeles on June 9 for their second night of the Fifty Something tour, delivering a performance that significantly diverged from their opening show. As the band embarks on their first trek in 11 years, frontman Geddy Lee has remained committed to his promise of keeping the setlist dynamic and unpredictable.

The band, now featuring the exceptionally talented drummer Anika Nilles, has been working through a rotating catalog of 38 songs. Lee, in a recent interview, emphasized the challenge of teaching a new drummer the band’s idiosyncratic style, noting that the process is a “horse of an entirely different color.” Nilles, who stepped into the formidable role previously held by the late Neil Peart, has earned widespread acclaim for her technical precision and stage presence.

A Dynamic Setlist Evolution

While the second night began with familiar staples like “Xanadu” and “The Spirit of Radio,” the band quickly pivoted to deeper cuts. The inclusion of “The Analog Kid”—performed for the first time since 2013—marked a clear departure from the previous night’s structure. The set also featured a poignant rendition of “Bravado,” dedicated to Peart, alongside tour debuts such as “Leave That Thing Alone,” “Headlong Flight,” and “The Trees,” the latter of which had not been played live since 2008.

The Full 2112 Suite

The second set provided the night’s most significant surprise. While the opening show featured an abridged version of their iconic opus “2112,” the June 9 performance saw the band tackle the entire seven-part suite. This included rare performances of “Discovery,” “Oracle: The Dream,” and “Soliloquy,” marking the first time these sections have been played live since 1997.

In total, the band performed 28 songs, with 14 tracks differing from their opening night. The evening concluded with a powerful encore featuring “Finding My Way” and “Working Man,” cementing the tour’s reputation as a celebration of the band’s storied history.
