Rome Ramirez of Sublime With Rome hosted an acoustic Billboard Live At-Home performance Monday (April 20) to raise money for MusiCares, which provides emergency aid to the music community.

As he performed Sublime‘s classic hits from the original lineup’s 1992 debut album 40oz. to Freedom (minus the timely 4/20 tunes like “Smoke Two Joints” and “Let’s Go Get Stoned”), Ramirez shared how grateful he felt to sing the alt-rock anthems with his bandmates all over the world. But he felt especially grateful for performing as guests during a certain August show in New York City headlined by Post Malone.

“That was a badass experience, man. That was super tight,” he exclaimed during the livestream show. “Post is the homie, a super-talented musician. He’s a hardworking dude, so he wanted to jam with me and the guys. It was a great opportunity. When we were just coming off of tour, we had about a week to rehearse the song and then the last day of tour, we got offstage, went straight to the airport, flew straight to New York and played with Post that next day. It was pretty cool — no soundcheck or nothing.”

The seminal ska-punk band performed “Santeria” with Malone on his Aug. 5 stop of Bud Light’s Dive Bar Tour. A month later, Sublime With Rome posted a tropical cover of Post Malone’s No. 3 Billboard Hot 100 hit “Goodbyes,” featuring Young Thug, because “it’s actually one chord away from being the exact chord progression as ‘Santeria,'” according to the press statement at the time.
