If you live in New York then you’re probably used to the sound of cheering, clapping and pots and pans banging together around 7 p.m. every night in a tribute to the heroic job first responders are doing during the COVID-19 pandemic. The righteous clatter got a sonic upgrade recently when New York firefighter Louis DeRosa from Ladder 15 hopped up on his fire truck with some masked compatriots to rip a Jimi Hendrix-like version of the National Anthem outside of New York Presbyterian Hospital.

Last Thursday, DeRosa plugged in for the inspiring rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” which drew a loud response from the crowd on the street.
