The singer dedicated Wednesday night's (March 4) show at Staples Center to the late Lakers great and his daughter.
Paul Stanley paid tribute to late L.A. Lakers great Kobe Bryant during Kiss‘ show at the Staples Center on Wednesday night (March 4). Donning a glittery No. 24 jersey, Stanley told the crowd that they should remember Bryant for his efforts off the court as much as his highlight-reel decades running the boards at Staples.
“None of us would be here if this place wasn’t really like a memorial to somebody who was so much more than a basketball player, somebody who’s been a role model,” Stanley said to cheers from the hometown crowd. “And tonight, I think we dedicate this show not only to Kobe and his daughter Gigi, but to all the people who perished on that helicopter.”
And what better way to pay homage than with the 1976 Destroyer cut “Do You Love Me?” The latest tribute to Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter came a week after a tear-stained memorial at the Staples Center that featured moving eulogies from wife Vanessa Bryant, basketball greats Michael Jordan and Shaquille O’Neal and performances by Beyoncé, Alicia Keys and Christina Aguilera.
