The rap game is right back to it. Week after week, hip-hop doesn't stop and this week is no different. As the month of April reaches its midway point, there's the release of a sequel to a popular mixtape from one of Louisiana's hottest rappers, an MC from Detroit with an unmatched flow hit us with a new project, a notable Queens spitter dropped a highly-anticipated EP on short notice and more.
Just about eight months after having dropped his full-length studio album Murder Made Me, Fredo Bang follows up with Two-Face Bang 2, a mixtape that serves as the sequel to his renowned 2018 project 2 Face Bang. 2FB is often referred to as the tape that put the Baton Rouge, La.-bred rhymer on the map. Led by two tracks that were released earlier this year, "Federal Raid" and "No Love," the Two-Face Bang 2 mixtape features guest appearances from heavy-hitters in the game such as Roddy Ricch, Sleepy Hallow and YNW Melly. Since announcing the album via Instagram in March, Fredo has been dropping hints and teasers to keep fans excited for the 2 Face Bang sequel, and was recently listed as one of the many artists striving for the coveted 10th spot in the 2022 XXL Freshman class.
A year after putting out his Built for Whatever album, Tee Grizzley is back with a new mixtape titled Half Tee Half Beast. The latest project from the Detroit rapper includes 17 tracks. Tee goes light on on the features on this one and only has guest appearances from Quality Control's Lakeyah and and Tee's brother Baby Grizzley. On the production side, the former XXL Freshman taps D.A. Got That Dope and others to score the hard-body collections of songs.
Just two days after announcing the project on social media, Dreamville's Bas dropped his long-awaited EP [BUMP] Pick Me Up. The Queens-bred artist promises that the four-track EP ushers in heavy summer vibes and features contributions from artists like labelmates J. Cole and Ari Lennox, as well as Gunna and Lil Tjay. [BUMP] Pick Me Up is Bas' first solo effort since releasing the Spilled Milk Vol. 1 EP in August of 2019. Most recently, the "The Jackie" spitter was featured on Dreamville's latest compilation D-Day: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape.
Los Angeles MC Airplane James has hit us with his brand new EP Lowkey Hurt. The project marks the South Central, Calif. native's second offering in 2022, following the release of his Who TF is Airplane James 2 EP. The aforementioned effort included features from fellow Los Angeles native Bino Rideaux and Diamond Lane Music Group labelmate Problem. A trailer for the Lowkey Hurt EP sees Airplane James showing off his impressive rhyme skills over a smooth soul sample in an ode to the women who come from his beloved hometown of Los Angeles.
