It has been nearly three years since Pittsburgh-based shoegazers Feeble Little Horse captivated listeners with their sophomore effort, Girl With Fish. Following a brief announcement just last week, the band has officially released their highly anticipated new album, bitknot, which is available now via Saddle Creek.
bitknot marks a significant milestone for the group, serving as their first full-length project following the 2025 departure of founding guitarist Ryan Walchonski, who has since moved on to lead the project Aunt Katrina. The remaining members—Sebastian Kinsler, Lydia Slocum, and Jake Kelley—took a DIY approach to the record, writing, producing, and recording the entire album from their homes in Pittsburgh.
In a press release accompanying the release, the band offered insight into the album’s conceptual foundation: “The album art is based on the coincidental core memory matrix, which was used in old computers to store memory/access information using 0s and 1s. Each core, or ‘bit,’ is accessed through the grid of wires, like a knot that stores secret details and memories.”
While Feeble Little Horse has long been associated with the shoegaze genre, bitknot defies simple categorization. The record weaves together elements of glitch, folk, hyperpop, and 1990s alternative rock, resulting in a sound that feels both bleary and reassuring. It is a testament to the band’s creative evolution and their ability to craft internal, downbeat pop music that resonates deeply.
In conjunction with the album’s release, the band has announced an extensive tour spanning North America and Europe for the remainder of the year. Fans can look forward to seeing the new material performed live as the group hits major cities across both continents.
