Ella Mai Recalls the Unexpected Moment When ‘Boo’d Up’ Debuted on the Hot 100 Chart

In this week’s episode of My Billboard Moment, Ella Mai recalls how it felt when her song “Boo’d Up” debuted on the Hot 100 chart in 2018.

The singer notes that while her “Billboard moment” probably should be when her song peaked at No. 5 on the chart, it was an even more memorable experience when the song first appeared on the list.

“I'm so grateful for every position that we got to hit,” she explains. “But when we debuted, I really wasn't expecting it, and that was my first song to ever debut on the Hot 100…I was very, very happy.”

“But also I won three Billboard Awards last year,” she adds. “So that was also a moment ‘cause I got to go up and collect them, so you guys treat me well!”
