Earl Sweatshirt Postpones Tour Following Injury

A couple of months ago, frequent collaborators Earl Sweatshirt and MIKE released a joint double album titled Pompeii // Utility, featuring production from the Surf Gang collective. While the duo had high hopes for a massive international tour—with Surf Gang member Harrison slated to open most shows—those plans have been put on hold. The tour, which was scheduled to kick off this Tuesday in Riverside, California, has been postponed due to an injury sustained by Earl Sweatshirt.

Earlier this week, the rapper canceled his scheduled appearance at SXSW London, with organizers citing an “accident.” On Thursday, venues across the North American leg of the tour confirmed the postponement, noting that Earl requires surgery and a period of recovery before he can return to the stage. At this time, the specific nature of the injury remains undisclosed, and no new dates have been announced. The status of the European leg, currently set to begin in August, remains unconfirmed.

Despite the setback, Earl Sweatshirt remains active in the music scene with new appearances this week. His collaborator Navy Blue recently released his new LP Sir Render, which features guest spots from Armand Hammer and the late Ka. Earl contributes to the Alchemist-produced track “Belladonna,” where he reflects on his creative process.

Additionally, Harrison, who co-produced Pompeii // Utility, released his debut solo mixtape, Taking a walk & calling a car home. While the project focuses on ambient instrumentals, Earl Sweatshirt makes a production contribution on the track “officeloop with t + e,” working alongside Harrison and Elipropperr.

Fans are encouraged to stream the new projects from Navy Blue and Harrison while awaiting further updates on Earl’s recovery.
