Despite the potentially confusing name—which bears no relation to the legendary Steve Winwood-led outfit—the New Jersey DIY power pop trio Classic Traffic has firmly established its own identity. Since forming in 2022, the band has cultivated a robust discography, including three full-length albums and a collaborative covers EP. They are now set to return this fall with their fourth studio effort, aptly titled Real Music.
Classic Traffic’s sound is a revved-up homage to the hair-shaking power pop of the 1970s, defined by massive riffs, infectious hooks, and tight vocal harmonies. Fans of the current DIY scene, particularly those who appreciate the kinetic energy of artists like Liquid Mike, will likely find much to admire here. The band operates with a unique creative dynamic: drummer Dante Fotino handles the songwriting, providing the lyrics that singer/guitarist Andy Altadonna delivers with conviction. The lineup is rounded out by bassist Dogmeat, who has quickly become the band’s most colorful spokesperson.

To celebrate the announcement, the band has unveiled the music video for their lead single, “My Rage.” Directed by Nick Heitman and Beven Barnhart, the lo-res visual perfectly captures the song’s energetic, punchy spirit. It serves as an ideal introduction to the forthcoming record.
Real Music is scheduled for release on October 9 via Same View. In addition to the new music, the band has announced a string of tour dates across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.
