The Singapore-born avant-pop artist yeule, known for their boundary-pushing sound, has officially announced their next project, a+e. Described by the artist as “a post-apocalyptic cyborgian romance,” the EP is slated for release on December 4. To mark the announcement, yeule has shared the lead single, “Hystérique,” a track that blends distorted textures with a glowingly romantic synthpop sensibility.
“Hystérique” finds yeule leaning further into the realm of straight-up pop, though they maintain their signature experimental edge. The track was written and produced in collaboration with Chris Greatti and Devin Workman, professional producers who have previously worked with artists like Dominic Fike and Yungblud. The result is a sound that feels both expansive and intimate, reminiscent of a long-gone era of synth-heavy pop.
The announcement of a+e follows a busy year for the artist, who released the album Evangelic Girl Is A Gun last year and recently contributed a cover of Nancy Sinatra for a performance art film. With this new EP, yeule continues to refine their unique aesthetic, bridging the gap between digital artifice and human emotion.
