After stepping away to release music under their own name last year, singer-songwriter Paco Cathcart is returning to the moniker The Cradle to announce a brand new LP. Titled Get Yourself A Man & Other Love Songs, the project is slated for a release this fall, with an official drop date set for October 1st.
The lead single, “Human Nature,” is available to stream today. While the full album is currently accessible to fans via the musician’s Patreon, a wider release is on the horizon. Cathcart shared details regarding the rollout on Instagram, noting that the record features songs that have been evolving through live performances and studio experimentation. The album will eventually hit Bandcamp alongside the release of physical cassettes, which are currently in production.
The recording process was a collaborative endeavor for Cathcart. The album features contributions from Carmen Quill on bass, Ellie Shannon on French horn, and Tyler Kaneshiro on trumpet. Mastering duties were handled by Matt Labozza. Regarding the collaborative spirit of the project, Cathcart expressed gratitude for the vision and expertise these artists brought to the recordings.
The lead track, “Human Nature,” sets a provocative tone for the album. It opens with a brass arrangement and stark, direct lyrics that immediately demand the listener’s attention. The song grapples with heavy existential and social questions, including, “Why do men hate women?/ Why do I want to kill everything?”
