After years of navigating the complexities of band dynamics, Izzy Reign has stepped into the spotlight as a solo artist, ready to command the stage at this year’s Upheaval Festival. In a recent conversation with Loudwire Nights, the musician opened up about her musical journey, the challenges of creative independence, and the momentum she has built leading up to her biggest performance to date.
Reflecting on her past experiences, Reign explained that the decision to pursue a solo path was driven by a desire for total creative control. “After band after band after band that I’ve done, I decided to kind of just go off and do my own thing and have the responsibility solely on myself,” she shared. This shift in focus proved to be a turning point, particularly in 2024, when she began releasing music with a newfound consistency that resonated with her growing fanbase.
The transition was not without its risks, but for Reign, the ability to steer her own ship was essential. “I feel that I’ve been placed in so many different situations that my reasoning for doing what I’m doing didn’t align with a lot of people,” she noted. “If I am the only one who is responsible for all of it, I know which direction I’m wanting to go.”
A New Chapter at Upheaval Festival
Now, Reign is preparing for a major milestone: performing at the Upheaval Festival in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Sharing the stage with established acts like Magnolia Park, Story of the Year, Poppy, and Gojira, she views the opportunity as a validation of her hard work. “This will be the first time that I’ve ever played anything like this in my entire life… What a thing in my life, a moment that I’m never going to forget,” she said.
Beyond the festival, Reign remains deeply committed to her community. Whether she is engaging with fans on Discord, streaming on Twitch, or writing new material, she views her career as a holistic endeavor. “Izzy Reign is all about community. That is in itself what I’m doing all that time. That is it. That’s all I do.”
As she looks toward the future, fans can expect more original music and continued live performances, cementing her status as a rising force in the rock scene.
