Two-time Grammy-nominated R&B artist Davion Farris has been busy keeping pure R&B alive, and he recently debuted his latest single, “Bad Guy” via Lena Waithe’s Hillman Grad Records partnership with Def Jam.
Hailing from Inglewood, the multifaceted artist comes from quite an incredibly talented family as his brothers are D-Smoke and SIR.
Known for his interpersonal songs and soulful ballads, Farris chronicles heartbreak and vulnerability from the male perspective on “Bad Guy” as he explains that sometimes it’s the women who actually play that role.
GroovyTracks’s Rea Davis had a chance to speak with Farris about creating “real R&B,” having his music featured on Showtime’s The Chi and BET’s Twenties, coming from a musical family, the importance of ballads, working with Lena Waithe, touring, Jazmine Sullivan and Lucky Daye appreciation and more.
