The events that led to the death 17-year-old Trayvon Martin at the hands George Zimmerman played an integral role in spawning the Black Lives Matter movement. Six years later, JAY-Z has teamed up with Paramount Network to tell Martin's story. On Monday (Feb. 26), Paramount Network released a 26-second trailer for the upcoming docuseries.

Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story will deal with more than just the tragic murder, but will also tell the surrounding story the roles race, politics, power, money and the American criminal justice system played. The six part docuseries is based on the book Martin's parents co-wrote: Rest in Power: The Enduring Life Trayvon Martin.

JAY-Z serves as an executive producer on the non-scripted project along with Sybrina Fulton, Tracy Martin, Chachi Senior, Michael Gasparro, Jenner Furst, Julia Willoughby Nason and Nick Sandow.

Check out the hard-hitting trailer, which features narratives and headlines that became attached to the controversial case. A few seen in the teaser include, “He was just a kid,” “I don't want this to be swept under the rug” and “He was standing his ground.”

Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story premieres in July.
