Wallows debuted the music video for their newest single “OK” on Wednesday (April 8) and it’s quite the (road) trip.

In the ’90s-inspired visual, the indie rock trio hits the road in a beat-up old van, stopping for fast food and goofing off in a parking lot on their way to an undisclosed house party.

“There’s no need to explain/ I know what you wanna say/ We could just say goodnight if you think that’s alright/ There’s no need to explain/ I know that we can relate/ Can we get up and try to feel OK again/ OK,” a blue-haired Dylan Minnette sings as he and his bandmates host an impromptu jam session in the back of the van.

“‘OK’ is a song about insecurities in a relationship; having a hard time accepting something that feels ‘too good to be true,’ but overall learning to embrace it and accept the love you’re receiving and focusing on returning it,” the band said in a statement.

“Now, given the state of the world and the health crisis we happen to be in at the time of the song’s release, we feel like the main line/hook of the song, ‘Can we get up and try to feel okay again?,’ sort of takes on a new meaning/purpose. The thought that no matter where we are or how alone and lost we feel right now, we can get up again and try to feel OK. We’re in it together.”

The track marks the band’s first release of 2020, following dual one-off single “Trust Fall / Just Like a Movie” and their 2019 debut album Nothing Happens. (The LP’s Clairo-assisted lead single, “Are You Bored Yet?” peaked at No. 33 on the Hot Rock Songs chart.)
