A golden buzzer moment? Rising comedian Vincent Marcus took to the stage of America’s Got Talent on Tuesday night’s premiere (May 26) to perform a spot-on series of impressions that left the crowd and judges in awe.
After admitting to judge Howie Mandel that he’d never performed his impersonations in front of a live audience before, the one-time Vine star launched into a rapid-fire number of nursery rhymes as Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z and more.
“The itsy-bitsy spider went up the water spout/ Down came the rain and washed the spider out/ Out came the sun and dried up all the rain/ The itsy-bitsy spider went up the spout again,” he rapped as an unmistakable Marshall Mathers before performing “Paddy Cake” as Snoop and a mashup of “Mary Had a Little Lamb” and “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” as Pitbull (much to new judge Sofia Vergara’s delight).
Next, the AGT hopeful went old school, running through “Hickory Dickory Dock” as former Sugarhill Gang member Wonder Mike before closing out his set with a playful rendition of “Humpty Dumpty” as none other than Jay-Z. Finishing up, Marcus even name-dropped judge Simon Cowell, who raised his fist in happy recognition.
While production of the long-running talent competition was eventually suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, Season 15 of AGT airs Tuesday nights on NBC.
