Swedish House Mafia‘s Steve Angello revealed that the group have “scrapped” the material that would have been the follow up album to 2022’s ‘Paradise Again‘.

The trio – comprised of Angello, Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso – have released two singles since their 2022 debut LP. The two singles were ‘Lioness’ with Niki & the Dove and ‘Finally’ – a collab with Alicia Keys that reimagines Kings Of Tomorrow and Julie McKnight’s 2001 track of the same name.

In an interview with Billboard, Angello was asked about the progress of a new album from the group. He initially responded with laughter before saying: “We had an album, we scrapped it, and we put out singles.”

He continued: “We are still always working on music and when we feel like [what we have] is good enough, we will put it out. As a creator, if you’re not feeling something, it’s not going to see daylight.”

Angello went on to tell fans not to worry as they can expect new Swedish House Mafia music soon despite their scrapped LP. “There’s always a lot coming, especially with us,” he said. “We’ve made so much music in the past couple of years, so we’re just going to have this flow of putting out records.”

Last year, the trio hinted that a new album was on its way during their set at Tomorrowland. According to DJ Mag, while introducing their single ‘Ray Of Solar’ at the festival Angello told the crowd: “This is coming on an album we’re dropping later this summer.”

In a four-star review of ‘Paradise Again’, NME shared: “Swedish House Mafia’s debut album sees the trio flexing their musical and emotional muscles across 17 brilliant, fearless and often surprising tracks. The kings of dance music are very much back.”
