The singer also appeared in a music-themed sketch about a lovers spat.
The Weeknd debuted his new atmospheric song “Scared to Live” with Oneohtrix Point Never during the March 8 episode of Saturday Night Live.
Appearing in a red suit, black gloves and bloody-faced with a bandage over his nose, a look he’s adopted in recent videos, the singer also performed his recent single “Blinding Lights,” from his upcoming album, After Hours.
This marked the Weeknd’s third visit to SNL‘s Studio 8H. In addition to his musical performances, the singer also appeared in the hilarious sketch “On the Couch,” where he teamed up with SNL‘s Kenan Thompson and Chris Redd for an R&B song about being in the doghouse with their significant others.
As of Sunday morning, “Scared to Live” — which includes parts of Elton John’s “Your Songs” — had not appeared on music streaming services.
The Weeknd also made a brief cameo in show’s weekly “Weekend Update” sketch to give an appropriately titled “Weeknd Update.” Watch all of his performances and skit appearances below.
