Like most of us, Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo have been sheltering-in-place at home during the coronavirus pandemic.

The married rock icons have used their time to channel their emotions about the current climate into a beautiful new ballad of hope, “Together.”

The stripped-down tune, recorded in their home studio, stresses that staying apart now is the only way we can be together in the future. “Being apart is so very hard/it hurts my soul/it hurts my heart,” sings Benatar before concluding “We’ll be ok/we’ll see this through/we’ll find a way, we always do/but you know it’s the right thing and distance will keep us together.”

The video, premiering below, was created using stock footage of hospital workers and people celebrating milestones from a distance, as well as family and friends together in better times. Benatar and Giraldo even make a brief appearance— with masks on— around the 2:31 mark.

“In challenging times, it sometimes helps to seek out beauty and hope and positivity. Making music leads us down that path,” the pair tells Billboard. “We wrote this because we are all hurting, struggling, grieving. We hope in some small way, that this lifts sprits and heals hearts. Wishing everyone blessings, strength and love.”

Similar to most acts, Benatar and Giraldo, who signed with CAA in October,  were prepping for their spring/summer tour, which has now been put on hold.
