Born in Baltimore and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, Miné ’s multicultural background is the backbone of her artistry. Now based in Miami, Florida, she combines Afrobeats’ infectious rhythms with Western pop and R&B influences to create a sound that’s both fresh and deeply emotive. Her new single, “Crave,” exemplifies this fusion perfectly—a smooth R&B groove layered with introspective lyrics about finding meaningful relationships amidst superficiality.
“‘Crave’ is about wanting someone to see you beyond what’s on the surface,” Miné explains. “It feels like it’s getting harder to find real connections these days.” The track speaks directly to listeners navigating modern love while yearning for intimacy that goes beyond appearances.
Miné’s artistic journey began at 19 when she started writing songs inspired by her own life experiences. Her music often draws from personal stories or those shared by friends—especially when crafting love songs that resonate universally. This approach has resulted in standout tracks like “TMLA,” which explores innocent love, and “Born, Not Raised,” a deeply personal reflection on cultural identity as a Nigerian-American living between two worlds.
Miné has a unique ability to tell stories, it’s how she translates global influences into every note. A graduate of Cornell University with dual Master’s degrees (one from Kaeio University in Japan), Miné brings an international perspective to her craft. Her time spent studying abroad significantly impacted her creativity; she even incorporated Japanese phrases into previous songs like “Born, Not Raised.” Fluent in Japanese, Korean, and Spanish, Miné uses language as an artistic tool to connect with audiences worldwide.
Her creative process is as eclectic as her background—whether experimenting on keyboards or conceptualizing melodies during everyday moments like showering or dreaming. This organic approach results in music that feels genuine yet polished.
