Metallica is doing its best to keep fans entertained during the coronavirus pandemic.

On Friday (May 1), the hard rock band’s James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo shared a video of themselves virtually performing a stripped-down version of 1988’s “Blackened” from their respective homes.

“Here’s a little something we cooked up over the last few days. Hope you’re all safe & sound. Have a great weekend,” Metallica captioned the YouTube video.

Socially distanced performances have become common in recent weeks as musicians have been forced to cancel tours and stay indoors to help slow the spread of Covid-19.

In late March, Metallica announced that it would be rescheduling upcoming tour dates and festival appearances due to the coronavirus pandemic.

To help cheer up its fans, the band launched a weekly online concert series, called Metallica Mondays, promising to post a new live performance every Monday to keep fans busy while they are cooped up at home.
