Machine Gun Kelly is mourning the loss of his father. The rapper told fans on Sunday (July 5) that he had been planning to celebrate the one-year anniversary of his Hotel Diablo album when he got the news. “That album was everything i wanted to say and i know it’s close to my fans…
but my father took his last breath this morning, and ive never felt a pain this deep in my life,” he wrote, noting that he was planning to set his phone down to mourn.
According to a New York Times profile that ran in Sunday’s paper, the MC/actor (born Richard Colson Baker) had recently reconciled with his dad, who was reportedly hospitalized in Denver with an illness unrelated to the COVID-19 pandemic. “He’s so stoked that I’m playing guitar now. He called me the other day and told me that he’s really starting to enjoy my music,” MGK told the paper. “And he’s super proud of me.”
MGK, 30, got support from a number of stars, including fellow rapper Lil Skies, who said, “I love you my brother so much, ❤️with u thru anything,” and Blink-182 drummer and frequent collaborator Travis Barker, who wrote, “Send all the the love in the world to you right now brother.”
