Justine Skye hosted a Billboard Live At-Home performance Thursday (April 23) to raise money for Housing Works Inc., a New York City-based non-profit dedicated to fighting AIDS and homelessness.

Last year, the 24-year-old artist released a six-song EP titled Bare With Me, but she revealed that three new songs will extend the project to a full-length LP she’ll release later. “Can’t wait to just close out that chapter of Bare With Me and for you to hear kind of the new vibe I’ve been going for,” Skye said.

After stripping down the first song, “Secrets,” with an acoustic arrangement her guitarist digitally sent over, the Jamaican-American artist implemented sonic elements of her ethnic identity with that of her hometown of Brooklyn for the deconstructed version of “Maybe,” which she premiered earlier this year and promised on her sophomore studio album. The neo-soul guitar chorus has an underlying rock-steady reggae flavor to it interspersed with lurking Brooklyn drill sounds that elevate the original sultry R&B jam.
