The music community is coming together to pay tribute to Uptown Records founder Andre Harrell, who died in early May at age 59.
The two-hour special will air live on Sunday (May 24) at 7 p.m. ET on BET, BET Jams, BET Soul and REVOLT TV, where Harrell served as vice chairman.
The commercial-free tribute — titled Mr. Champagne and Bubbles, a nickname of Harrell’s — will feature appearances by Mariah Carey, Babyface, Chris Rock, Russell Simmons, Lee Daniels, Jamie Foxx, Kimora Lee Simmons, Robin Thicke, Naomi Campbell, Clarance Avant and more.
“Tonight we celebrate the incredible life and times of Andre Harrell. His legacy and spirit have no expiration date! That smile, that laugh, that brilliance, that style, that foresight as a trendsetter, that FRIEND!!” Epic Records chair and CEO Syl Rhone posted on Instagram Sunday.
The tribute is being executive produced by Harrell’s 25-year-old son, Gianni Credle-Harrell; the music exec’s ex-wife, Wendy Credle; and Rikki Hughes.
Harrell, who died May 7 from heart failure, is credited for launching Uptown Records and helping launch the careers of superstars like Sean “Diddy” Combs and Mary J. Blige.
