Fiona Apple Soundtracks New Anya Taylor-Joy Miniseries ‘Lucky’

Fiona Apple is making a highly anticipated return to the spotlight, lending her singular musical vision to the upcoming miniseries Lucky. Based on the 2021 novel by Marissa Stapley, the series stars Anya Taylor-Joy and is scheduled to premiere on Apple TV+ on July 15. While details regarding whether the music features entirely new compositions remain under wraps, the involvement of Fiona Apple has already generated significant buzz.

In a recent interview with Movieplayer.it, Taylor-Joy shared her enthusiasm for the collaboration, noting that she specifically sought a female-centric, rock-influenced sound for the project. “I wanted the music to be mostly female-centric and have kind of a rock edge to it,” Taylor-Joy explained. She went on to describe the impact of having the legendary singer-songwriter involved in the title sequences. “I think her voice is a perfect description of this series. There’s a timbre and a rawness and a gravelliness that perfectly exemplifies the show.”

The sentiment was echoed by costar Timothy Olyphant, who expressed his immediate connection to the music upon viewing the first episode. “When I saw the first episode, as soon as that title sequence broke in, I just remember this feeling of, ‘Oh, fuck yeah. This is going to be a great show,'” Olyphant remarked. “Like it just defined the whole show. This show must be awesome if Fiona Apple’s part of it.”

Lucky premieres on Apple TV+ on July 15.
