Drake's confidence is at an all-time high right now. With him boasting the No. 1 and No. 2 record simultaneously on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Nice for What” and “God's Plan,” respectively, his fiery swagger has been hard to extinguish. On Tuesday night (May 1) during Game 1 the Toronto Raptors and Cleveland Cavaliers series, Cavs center, Kendrick Perkins, took on the challenge and was involved in a heated skirmish with the 6 God.
Before the Cavs squeaked their way past the Raptors in an overtime thriller, tempers flared between Drake and Perkins at halftime. Perkins was trash-talking his former teammate Serge Ibaka, according to ESPN. “I was f—ing with Serge, my old teammate,” Perkins said after the game. “I wasn't talking to Drake].” “I was] telling him, 'We about to win this game,' and Drake butted in talking s— to me,” Perkins explained to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. “So I said something back to him.”
Drake's “slick” response prompted Perkins to tell him to “sit your ass down and watch the game.'” Once the final buzzer sounded, Drake and Perkins again squared f, with the latter walking f the court, while Drizzy was approached by Cavs personnel. In a video capturing the verbal altercation, Drake can be heard yelling, “I never said that shit.”
Later, Drake commented on an Instagram post highlighting the incident. “I just said I like the hem on his capris,” he wrote. In a tweet made by Toronto Star columnist Bruce Arthur, their battle continued all the way to the tunnel with Drake allegedly calling Perkins “a f—ing p—-y.” This went all the way into the tunnel, with Drake calling Perkins a “f—— p—-” and calling for him to come out. “I'm here in real life,” he said. He was mad,
This isn't the first time that Drake has had a contentious feud with players opposing teams. During the Raptors first-round matchup against the Washington Wizards, Drake called Kelly Oubre Jr. “a bum.” He also poked fun at John Wall when the Raptors were drubbing the Wiz in Game 2. “John, you're getting bodied by 20 tonight!,” he exclaimed from the sidelines.
