Chris Brown hits a landmark 50 top 10 hits on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart as “Go Crazy” darts 12-6 on the list dated June 20. The single, a collaboration with Young Thug, rises to 13.3 million in audience in the week ending June 14, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, up 19% from the prior period.
With “Crazy,” Brown becomes only the second artist to register 50 top 10s on the list since it began in 1992.
Before you ask – yes, Drake is first, with 69.
Brown, 31, first visited the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay top 10 with his breakout hit, “Run It!,” which climbed to No. 2 in 2005. Since that arrival, the R&B hitmaker has claimed at least one top 10 on the list each year, with the sole exception of 2009. Eight of those 50 titles powered to No. 1, including the Drake-featuring “No Guidance,” which logged a record-shattering 27 weeks at the summit last year.
As Brown hits the half-century mark, here’s an updated look at the acts with the most top 10s on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart:
69, Drake
50, Chris Brown
47, Lil Wayne
35, Jay-Z
32, Nicki Minaj
32, R. Kelly
31, Beyoncé
31, Usher
29, Mary J. Blige
28, Ludacris
Young Thug, meanwhile, adds his ninth top 10 on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay. The 28-year-old rapper/singer first entered the region with 2014’s “Stoner,” which reached No. 10 that April. Three of the nine cuts made it all the way to the top.
“Crazy” looks prime to secure another radio top 10 soon as it continues forward progress at the rhythmic format. The collaboration rises 17-13 on Rhythmic Songs, spurred by a 28% surge in plays in the week. Radio gains driven by R&B/hip-hop and rhythmic spark the single’s at No. 40 on the all-genre Radio Songs chart. There, it registers 19.4 million in audience, a 26% burst from the prior week.
Radio gains line up with steady improvements in the streaming world, where the song first began as a dance challenge that found traction on TikTok and Instagram. That buzz, plus possible discovery from the radio reception, prompts “Crazy” to debut at No. 24 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs chart and at No. 40 on the all-genre Streaming Songs chart. The tune recorded 8.5 million U.S. streams in the week ending June 11, up 12% from the previous tracking week.
In turn, those radio and streaming gains help “Crazy” on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, which combines the two metrics as well as download sales. There, “Crazy” steps 17-15. Similarly, the track cracks the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 through a 50-37 march.
“Crazy” appears on Brown and Young Thug’s collaborative mixtape, Slime&B. The project, released last month, reached No. 15 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
