Chloe X Halle slowed things down, down, down, down for their serene Billboard Live At-Home performance Thursday (April 30) to raise money for the Downtown Women’s Center, which serves homeless women in Los Angeles.

The sister duo caught fans up with their quarantine activities, from “getting better with makeup” to releasing a new single “Catch Up” with Swae Lee featuring Mike WiLL Made-It, which Chloe X Halle performed later on.

“Guys, Swae Lee is so talented,” Chloe Bailey commented about their collaborator. “We have always been like huge fans of him even with Rae Sremmurd. I feel like we were family in another life ’cause we kind of look alike and he’s so cool and the vibes are chill.”

And the vibes were chill during Billboard‘s livestream, too, as their first song “Down” felt “very fitting during this time with COVID and everybody in their house,” Halle Bailey said before her older sister chimed in. “Everything’s been so crazy, you can feel the anxiety because everyone’s like, ‘What’s going to happen next?’ But we just all got to take it down,” she said.

After guiding their online audience through one deep breath, their breathless, angelic vocal runs echoed their aforementioned good tidings. “It’s such a beautiful thing how music and lyrics can just give your soul a break, it can just give you such relief,” Halle said after wrapping the song, which the duo disclosed was recorded during a time when they felt under a lot of pressure.

But the second song of their set, the titular track of their debut album The Kids Are Alright, granted the grownish actresses solace. “We feel like during this time, this is a mantra that everyone can just go, go and sing because it really helps us during this time. Like we’re going to be okay, we’re going to be alright no matter what,” Halle reassured their fans.

To cap their concert, the two performed “Cool People” dedicated to “all the beautiful women and Downtown Women’s Center because they remind us that there’s still cool people in the world….
