The rapper has teamed up with Fashion Nova to give away $1 million to fans in need over the next month-plus.
Cardi B‘s “Coronavirus” rant remix might’ve served as the pandemic’s war cry, but now she’s suiting up with Fashion Nova to serve those in need.
In an Instagram video posted Wednesday (April 8), the 27-year-old rapper reassured her fans who are struggling financially by announcing that she and the global fashion company plan to give away $1,000 every hour to those severely impacted by the global crisis until May 20, according to a press release. Within those 42 days, their joint Fashion Nova Cares initiative will have donated a cool $1 million.
“Many of you are struggling to pay bills, feed your families, and take care of your overall essential needs. #FashionNovaCARES & I are giving away $1,000 EVERY HOUR until we’ve given away $1 MILLION DOLLARS to those directly affected by this crisis,” she captioned her post. “Tell us how the $1,000 can help you during these times. We’ll be reading your submissions and selecting stories everyday so enter now by visiting www.FashionNova.com/Cares Also PLEASE make sure that your Instagram is public, because I will also personally be looking thru these submitted pages.”
Those filling out the online form must include their email address, phone number, Instagram handle and personal story to qualify for the relief funds, which Cardi B expressed as a way to support fans who’ve supported their e-commerce collaborations since her first Fashion Nova drop in 2018.
“We all feel compassion and concern for those affected by the coronavirus,” said Richard Saghian, founder and CEO of Fashion Nova, in a press release. “Fashion Nova Cares with Cardi B will provide people with necessary relief to help them get through this crisis. As a community-driven brand, we are inspired by the kindness and generosity of others and we wanted to do our part to help those in need.”
Fashion Nova Cares will pick 24 individuals each day to send a $1,000 check to. As committed as Saghian and Cardi B are to providing financial aid, the rapper hopes no one feels embarrassed for seeking it.
“Don’t be shy. Sometimes you gotta motherf—ing ask for help,” the Invasion of Privacy artist encouraged her followers before breaking out into the late Bill Withers‘ comforting No. 1 hit “Lean on Me” and abruptly screeching, “$1,000 an hour for the next 42 [days]!”
