It’s actually the 11th anniversary, but who’s counting?
Bon Iver will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the group's beloved Blood Bank (10th Anniversary Edition) EP on March 27 with a reissue featuring recent live versions of all four tracks. In typical irreverent Bon Iver fashion, the anniversary edition is actually coming out 11 years after the original's 2009 release, with new live renditions of the title track, "Beach Baby," "Babys" and "Woods" recorded live at the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm on Oct. 31, 2018.
"Similar to how the first Blood Bank followed For Emma, Forever Ago, the reissue forecasts the evolution of Bon Iver as the project expands to new breadths of sound and community," reads a statement about the reissue. "In its new liner notes, Wisconsinite Ryan Matteson reflects on the mantras of Blood Bank and the growth of Bon Iver, writing how songs like 'Woods' heralded 'not just a new direction but a new beginning entirely. A place where boundaries don't exist. It was a signal change of things to come, laying the groundwork for new collaborations.'"
Bon Iver performed songs from Blood Bank on their 2019 arena tour in support of the Grammy-nominated i.i album, which is up for album of the year, record of the year ("Hey, Ma"), best alternative music album and best recorded package at Sunday's (Jan. 26) ceremony. The Blood Bank reissue will be available on CD, vinyl and digitally; pre-order it here.
