The Last Dinner Party have performed their breakout track ‘Nothing Matters’ in Simlish – check it out below.
After building a substantial amount of buzz with their theatrical live shows, The Last Dinner Party released their debut single ‘Nothing Matters’ in April 2023. Since then, the band have dropped their debut album ‘Prelude To Ecstasy’, been shortlisted for the 2024 Mercury Music Prize and won the Rising Star Award at the BRITs.
The band are currently in the middle of a massive UK tour and during a recent show in Dublin, The Last Dinner Party gave ‘Nothing Matters’ a The Sims-inspired twist by using the game’s own language.
Holding up a sheet of paper with a Simlish translation of the lyrics, vocalist Abigail Morris explained to the crowd that they’d attempted it the night before, but had been given the wrong lyrics. “I’m so sorry if you were there last night and you heard it, because it was lies,” she said.
“But now we have the actual words. I’ll just do a bit though.” The Last Dinner Party then launched into ‘Nothing Matters’, with Morris laughing through the Simlish version of the anthem, before switching back to English.

Over the years, everyone from Lily Allen and Katy Perry to mxmtoon have recorded versions of their songs in The Sims language.
Speaking about the success of ‘Prelude to Ecstasy’ recently, bassist Georgia Davies told NME: “A lot of people seem to connect with the themes of the album. There are kids who were ostracised in school for their sexuality or the way that they presented [themselves] with their appearance or the music they were into. They now feel like they’ve found a sense of community in us. That’s always a very beautiful and very moving thing to experience when people tell you [that]. It’s very emotional.”
The Last Dinner Party recently released an album of covers but unfortunately, fans are still waiting on a polished version of ‘Nothing Matters’ in Simlish.
