Trey Songz and Meek Mill engaged in a social media war of words on Wednesday (June 24) after Trey attempted to enlist him for the “Feed Your City Challenge.”

But Trey’s approach didn’t sit well with the Dream Chasers founder and he fired back, “200K to Philadelphia schools…my phantom for less fortunate 400K…and help raise 50 mil for reform @treysongz don’t try me like that!!”

Now, Trey has offered an apology to his “bro” following their heated exchange.

“Bruh,” he tweeted. “Emojis ain’t shit however I do apologize if you felt slighted. Can we do the challenge in Philly man? It will be huge.”

Trey then copped to an emoji he used might’ve been slightly off.

“I’m all for the empowerment & uplifting of one another & our communities,” he added. “I’m man enough to acknowledge that the emoji could have stirred things the wrong way even though that wasn’t the intent. It was so powerful feeding my city, I just wanted to bring some of the guys along.”

Meek became a trending Twitter topic shortly after their initial exchange and Trey only added fuel to the fire. He shared a screenshot of some of Meek’s comments to his Instagram page and laughed at his reaction.

“So @meekmill apparently felt a way bout me challenging him to the #feedyourcitychallenge,” he wrote. “He felt the need to tell me what he’s already done, hopefully not realizing I tapped on him because of how much I know he’s already doing for his community. That’s great you donated fam, that’s great you helping prison reform, that’s great you gave ya phantom. I’m simply trying to bring us together to further help our communities. You offended? Lol you got it.”

But Meek quickly replied, “Nah I didn’t don’t try to put me on the spot wit that sideways shit. that’s not even no money like 4 racks … other artist telling artist to donate is dumb just handle ya business! Don’t try to put me on the spot .. this behavior kinda of new artist don’t speaking on my money … coulda kept this in the comments bro I just ain’t feel your comment no big deal.”

With that behind them, they can presumably get back to work. The “Feed Your City Challenge” was founded by the Ricky Davis Legacy Foundation, Pusha T and music legend Tony Draper. The goal is to collect food and donate to as many families as possible that have been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
